Ruby Ruth Orr

Ruby Ruth Pendergrass Orr, age 85 of Andrews, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024.

Ruby was born in Macon County, NC to the late William and Leona Pendergrass. She had worked as a sewing machine operator. Ruby loved to go camping, to sing, work and being outdoors. There was not a person that she didn't love, and everyone loved her. She loved her family and her pets. Ruby loved the Lord more than anything, all the way to the end. She helped raise her great and great grandkids, and enjoyed all the wonderful adventures they went on together.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Sterling Jake Bateman and her second husband, Willie Ray Orr; her children, Benjamin Lee Bateman, Vera Sue Bateman and Joseph Lawrence Bateman; her brothers, Charles Vaster Pendergrass, James Marion Pendergrass, Samuel Gilbert Pendergrass, Daniel Lester Pendergrass and Larry Duke Pendergrass; and her sisters, Thelma Maude Pendergrass and Ella Mae Pendergrass.

She is survived by her brother, Roy Lawrence Pendergrass and wife Susie of Morgantan; her sister, Lue Garrett and husband Earl of Andrews; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and her special daughter and granddaughter, Wanda Prince and Amber Bateman.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews with her grandson, Pastor Daniel Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Anthony McCray, Wesley Stewart, Gilbert McCray, Sam Garrett, Daniel Fletcher and Nathan Presley.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
