Shelly Meria Smith

Shelly Meria Kirby Smith, 65, of Hayesville went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County.

She was the daughter of the late Howell and Lois Killian Kirby. Shelly had worked as a CNA in Healthcare. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to fish, but loved spoiling her grandchildren even more.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Smith of 41 years; daughter, Diane Dockery (Shane); brother, Gary Kirby (Tammy); grandchildren, Matthew, Avery, and Ellis Dockery; nephew, Jeremy Kirby (Lauren); and great niece, Olivia Kirby.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, January 23, 2026 with Rev. Clint Strickland officiating at Union Hill Cemetery, Hayesville. Pallbearers will be Shane Dockery, Matthew Dockery, Benny Kirby, Jeremy Kirby, David Ricks, and Mark Webb. Honorary pallbearer will be Avery Dockery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Friday, January 23, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville prior to the service.
