Myrtle Nell Hamby

10/28/1941 - 3/9/2026

Myrtle Nell Hamby, age 84 of Marble, was called to rest in the arms of our Lord on Monday, March 9, 2026 finding eternal peace.

Nell was born October 28, 1941 in Bryson City to the late Joe and Dora Simonds. She was proud to have been raised in a Christian home alongside of her seven brothers and four sisters. Nell spent her life serving others. First as a devoted daughter, caring for her parents, then a loving Mama to her six children and later providing childcare for dozens of children in the Andrews area. She was a member of the Peachtree Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Cottrill; and her granddaughter, Marisa Pitstick.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Hamby; her daughter, Elizabeth Hall (David); her sons, Carlos Brooks, Charles Brooks, Bobby Brooks (Michelle) and Chris Hamby (Alyson); her twelve grandchildren; and her seven great grandchildren.

Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of a heavenly reunion and take comfort in knowing she is finally at home with our Savior.

Unwavering faith guided her journey, and her joyful spirit was a light to all. We are grateful for the time we had with her and will cherish her memory until we meet again in Glory.

Matthew 25:23 - "His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into joy of your master.'"
