Bertie Frances Cox Ott

Bertie "Bert" Cox Ott, age 92 of Hayesville, NC passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Bertie was born in Clay County, NC to the late James Eulas and Ollie Campbell Cox; she was one of 16 children. She was owner and operator of an advertising company called Middle Georgia Penny Pincher. Bertie enjoyed gardening, canning, baking especially banana nut bread and reading. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Bertie was well known among the Hayesville / Hiawassee pickleball community. She played pickleball till her late 80's, and also delivered Meals on Wheels till her late 80's. Bertie was loved by all. She was devoted to her Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Alice Vaughn.

She is survived by one daughter, Julia Brauneck; two grandchildren, Savannah Alice Knight (Christopher) and Michael Wayne Granade (Macie); two great grandchildren, Brantley and Brooks Knight; and two sisters, Patricia Cox and Daisy Bennett.

Funeral Service will be held 12 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Sweetwater Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Granade, Christopher Knight, Mike Gonzalez, Harry Jarred and Braxtown Cox.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
