Bertha Rich Owens

Bertha Mae Rich Owens, 72, of Murphy passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Luther "Jack" and Annie Frankum Rich.

Bertha enjoyed reading, cooking, spending time with her family, especially her grandson. She liked treasure hunting at yard sales and thrift stores. Bertha loved going to church at Calvary Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Owens; and a brother, Paul Rich.

Surviving is a daughter, Dora Reeves; a brother, Henry Rich; sisters, Juanita “Nita” Beavers, Dorothy “Dot” Cockerham, Jeannie “Jean” Littlejohn, and Elizabeth “Debbie” Buchanan; a grandson, Ethan Reeves; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Mashburn officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack Raper, Steven Janes, Jerry Beavers, Jeremy Mashburn, and Bruce Davis. Burial will be at Maggie’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday evening May 28, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
