Emma Sue Nix

Emma Sue Nix, born December 4, 1946, in Violet, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in a hospital in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She spent the majority of her life in Royston and Blairsville, Georgia, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and community.

Emma Sue was a devoted pastor’s wife who supported her husband, Rev. Harry Nix, in his ministry and served with a loving and giving heart. Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she found great joy in sharing that love with others.

Emma Sue found great joy in gardening, shopping, and spending time with her family. In her younger years, she especially loved hosting gatherings by opening her home with generosity and grace. Her home was always filled with laughter, comfort, and love.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Harry Nix; her son, Rev. Shannon (Lori) Nix; and her daughter, Shay (Josh) Nix-Bailey. She was a proud grandmother to Samantha Anderson, Caleb Nix, Teryn Strickland, Seth Bailey, and Amber Holden. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, brothers Enoch Martin and Johnny Martin, and her sister, Alma Picklesimer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Audrey Martin; her brother, Melvin Martin; and her brother-in-law, Wade Picklesimer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

A private family burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery in Murphy.

Emma Sue Nix will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
