Ann Louise Skiles Rau

Ann Louise Skiles Rau, 81, of Murphy passed away Wednesday, June 24. 2026. She was the daughter of the late Richard Joseph and Marion Louise Retting Skiles.

Ann had worked at Wells and West Construction as a secretary. She was raised in Florida, and attended Northeast High School in St. Pete, Florida. Ann moved to Murphy in September of 1978. She loved to cook, bake, , loved working and serving at Scott Hogsed Day Event. Ann married William Lee Rau on May 28, 1966 (60 years of being happily married). She was a member of the Shepherd of the Mountain Church. Ann was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in St. Petersburg, FL, and the Rainbow girls.

Surviving are sons, William “Richard” Rau, and Brian Gregory Rau (Paige); cousins, Sandra Worley, Dottie Morris, Evelyn Surles, Marge Dyson, and Jamie Metz; special friends, Pastor Al Beck, Bev Whittley, Collette Dilly, Pat and Roger Shay, Les and Ann Stoke, and Janet and Bryan Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers, take your family or friends out to dinner and enjoy their company.

Ann was a quiet and gentle Christian mother. She had only two requests, to be cremated, and not to have a memorial service.
