Herschel Vance Hensley

Herschel Vance Hensley (Van) age 54 of Murphy, passed away at his home on Friday, June 26, 2026.

He was a native of Yancey County and born to Charlie and Myra Hensley of Burnsville, NC. Van was a graduate of Mars Hill University and a builder by trade.

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Hensley of the home; two sons, Colby K. Hensley and wife, Kailey Wiggins Hensley of Murphy and Dawson V. Hensley of Murphy; a daughter, Emma Grace Hensley of Murphy; a grandson, Casey Vance Hensley of Murphy; two brothers, Eric C. Hensley of Burnsville and Stuart J. Hensley of Kingsport, TN; and one niece and two nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Kyle Cody and Rev. Keith Mashburn officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Hills Memory Garden in Young Harris, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Burnsville, NC.
