James Harold Mason

James "Buddy" Harold Mason, age 88 of Young Harris, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Buddy was born Madison County, NC to the late Samual Patton and Christine West Mason. He was a foreman at Owens Ellenor Glass. Buddy loved farming, traveling, tending to his cows and being with his family. He loved the Lord and was loved by his children. Buddy always said God is always first and your family second. He saved his wife, Joyce, just for him with a marriage of 51 years. Buddy was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Peachtree.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara "Bobbie" Parker and Catherine Mason; a daughter-in-law, Robin Mason; and a great grandson, Owen Phillips.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Joyce Brown Mason; his sons, William Grant Mason and Gregory James Mason (Peggy); his daughters, Ellen "Beth" Moss (Clark), Patricia Lynn Hanold, Sheri Rena Anderson (Tim) and Michelle Reese (Michael); his brother, William Grant Mason (Mary); his sister, Tootsie Burch (David); his 15 grandchildren; his 23 great grandchildren; and his three great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Hayesville with Rev. Scott Cole and Rev. Clark Moss officiating. Burial will be in Peachtree Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Mason, Daren Mason, Cody Mason, Andrew Neal, AJ Neal, Chris Mason and Justin Mason. Honorary pallbearer will be David Henderson, Bernard Moody and Billy Hyatt.

The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the chapel prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in his honor to Landmark Baptist Church, 200 Upper Peachtree Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
