Hoyt Ray Ledford

Hoyt Ray Ledford, 75, of Murphy passed away July 14, 2026. He was the son of the late Frank Jessie and Lillie Kate Bishop Ledford.

Hoyt had worked as a custodian for Cherokee County. He loved the outdoors, rabbit hunting, and beagles. Hoyt loved NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt Fan. He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Ledford, Bill Ledford, Richard (Bud) Ledford; and a sister, Jean Cearly.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Blanche Ledford; daughter, Michelle Chastain (Jerry); granddaughter, Angel Chastain Wiley (Caleb); grandson, Taylor Chastain; great grandson, Jackson Wiley; brother, Steve Ledford (Debbie); four sisters, Charlotte Anderson (Tony), Sue Decker (Jerry), Ruthann Ford, and Lucille Herrin; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 3:00 pm in the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Palmer. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Taylor Chastain, Caleb Wiley, Chad Ledford, Jason Anderson, Sean Howard, Matthew Parton, William Resendiz, and Silas Starks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Wiley, Carmen Resendiz Castillo, Cody Taylor, Luke Morrow, Randy McDonald, Travis Morrow, Matthew Morrow, Sam Morrow, Roy Dickey, Cory Wright, and Sage Dyal.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home prior to the services.
