Chester Fain Hogsed

Chester Fain Hogsed, age 86 of Hayesville, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, after a long battle with lung disease.

Chester was born in Clay County to the late Lloyd and Flo Garrett Hogsed. He had worked as an appliance repairman. Chester loved to fix things, working with cows, traveling, playing the guitar and listening to rock and roll music. He was an avid collector of diecast cars. Chester enjoyed old cars, especially his T-Birds and Cadillacs. He was a storyteller as he loved to tell stories about growing up in Hayesville.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Bowen.

He is survived by his wife, Ivy Smith Hogsed; his son, Greg Hogsed of Atlanta, GA; his sister, Patricia Ann Carter of Hiawassee, GA; his grandson, Jamie Bowen (Sara); and his great grandchildren, Evie Bowen and Eli Bowen.

A private service for the family will be held at Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Camp 64 Pitstop (42 Davenport Campground, Hayesville, NC 28906). Refreshments and music will be provided.
