Gennaro "Jerry" Joseph Vella

Gennaro Joseph Vella, affectionately known as Jerry passed away Friday, November 6, 2026. Jerry was a resident of Hayesville, NC, where he lived out his passion for life, art, and nature.

He was born in New York, New York to the late Joseph and Rosalie Allegra Shalabra Vella.

Jerry was not only a devoted husband to his beloved spouse, Carol Fazio Vella, but he was also a skilled artist and specialty craftsman, known for his intelligence and quick wit. He took immense pride in building and designing his dream house in Hayesville, where he cherished working on his home and nurturing his beautiful yard.

In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed spending time boating, and immersing himself in wildlife, nature and especially animals. He was a dedicated member and minister of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hiawassee, GA. Jerry was interested in Bible history.

While living in Hayesville Jerry owned Frame It Art & Frame Shop in Hayesville and also Little Italy Italian Sandwich Shop in Young Harris, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Fazio Vella; three sons, Joseph Vella (Joyce Ellington), Curtis Jon Alden (Lisa) and Brandon James Alden; one daughter, Marlene Morales (Raul); seven grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Kristy Smith, Nicholas Smith, Michael Smith, Collin, Ethan and Gwen and three great grandchildren, Mason, Rylee and Laney.

No services are planned.
