Roger Dale Derreberry, age 71, of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Murphy Medical Center.
He was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Macky and Mary Jane Craig Derreberry. Roger was in building construction and loved being an auctioneer. He enjoyed golfing, camping, boating and fishing. Roger loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Evans and Jeanette Harper.
He is survived by his son, Gary Derreberry and wife Debbie of Commerce, GA; his daughter, Loretta Lyon of Andrews, NC; one brother, Eddie Derreberry of Dalton, GA; two sisters, Phyllis White and Brenda Locke Davidson both of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Cory Derreberry, Matthew Derreberry, Courtney Holcomb, Meka Thigpen; great grandchildren, Luke Holcomb and Beau Holcomb; his companion, JoAnn Crisp and her children, Tony Crisp and Debbie Qualls; several nieces and nephews; caregiver; Marla Crisp; and mother of Loretta and Gary, Edith Derreberry.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Jim Morrow and Rev. Robbie Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Derreberry, Cory Derreberry, Troy Wilson, Donnie Wilson, Rickey Locke and Tony Crisp.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
