Obituary for Nell White

Nell Amos White, age 91 of Murphy, NC passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.

She was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Charles Nathan and Blanche Queen Amos. Nell had retired as a secretary for Herman H. West Company. She had many accomplishes in her life which included; working with the Cherokee County Historical Museum, a member and past president of the Murphy Civitan Club, a Sunday School teacher and director at Murphy First Baptist Church, a choir member where she had sang in the Singing Christmas Tree 33 times, Republican Party Chairman; and Tri-County Community College Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William White Sr; brothers, Gerald Amos and C.N. Amos; and sister, Kathleen Amos.

She is survived by four sons, Charles William White Jr. and wife Joan, Timothy White and wife Connie, David White and wife Alice and Douglas White all of Murphy, NC; one daughter, Hilda White Jolley and husband Jim of Chesnee, SC; one sister, Jean White of Marble, NC; grandchildren, Jeff, Monica, Sonia, Brian, Dawn, Candice, Josh, Jonathan, Justin, Krisa, Sean and Isaac; 24 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in the Peachtree community. Pallbearers will be Brian White, Josh White, Justin White, Sean White, Isaac White and Heath Myers.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cherokee County Historical Museum, 87 Peachtree Street, Murphy, NC 28906.
