Joann Kephart Matheson, age 73, of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Buncombe County, NC.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Raymond Lewis and Charlsie Lee Graves Kephart. Joann retired from the RBC Centura Bank after 39 years of service. She had also worked at Ingles part-time for 11 years. She was a member of the Grape Creek Baptist Church. Joann enjoyed working outside and loved shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Matheson.
She is survived by her son, Kenny Matheson of Murphy, NC; her daughter, Terri Keating of Murphy, NC; her brother, Kim (Darby) Kephart and wife Anna of Murphy, NC and their son, Adam Satterfield and his children, Carter, Parker, Karrington and Paxton Satterfield of Brookhaven, Mississippi; grandchildren, Joshua Matheson, Caine Matheson, Zachary Matheson, Lakota Keating and Joseph Helton and step-grandson, Kendall Keating; one great grandson, Lane Isaac Matheson; and was excitedly anticipating the arrival of her new great-grandson, Ramsey Floyd Matheson.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in the Peachtree Community. Rev. Steve West will officiate. Pallbearers will be Caine Matheson, Zachary Matheson, Joshua Matheson, Joseph Helton, Adam Satterfield and Ricky Helton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kermit Graves, Bobby Joe Graves, Godfrey Graves, Jack Graves, Jay Killian, L.C. Killian, Robert Killian, Terry Killian, Lakota Keating and Lane Matheson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rathbun Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
