Leon Garland Hall, age 81 went home to be with the Lord November 7, 2016 after a short illness.
His parents were Jude and Elmer Hall. Leon retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Leon also worked at American Thread, Margarat Studios and Bemos Lumber Company. He loved his garden and hauling and cutting logs. Leon was a member of the New Hope Church of God.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Willard Hall, George Hall and step-brother, David Steward; and sister, Jane Hall.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Ruby Faye Montgomery Hall; children, Shelia Taylor of Gastonia, NC, Rex Taylor and wife Janet, Johnnie Hall, Cheryl Hartness and husband Tex, Robin Hall and Paul Hall all of Murphy; grandchildren, Ronnie Gibson, Darrell Gibson, Jennifer Taylor, Desiree Joseph, Cheree Swanson, Jason Hall, Tiffany Hickson, Trisha Hartness and Brandon Hall; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; step-brothers, Noah Stewart and Wesley Stewart; and step-sister, Martha Curtis.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. David Watson will officiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Hall, Brandon Hall, John Carringer, Mike Kephart, Dale Clontz and James Cornwell.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Townson- Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
