Charles William Holland, age 81, of Andrews, NC passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence.
He was born and raised in Andrews, NC to the late Willard McClain and Winnie Ellen Painter Holland. Charles was retired from the US Air Force as an aircraft electronics repairman. After retiring from the military he worked for the US Post office as a postmaster. He helped with the Vista Program in Andrews, NC and volunteered for H&R Block. Charles enjoyed golfing. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at East Sumter Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sumter, SC and at the Beaver Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Andrews, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, David McClain Holland; one brother, Jim Holland; two brother-in-law's, Don Crawford and William Stiles.
He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years Pauline Geneva Holland; two sons, Thomas William Holland of Sumter, SC and Dean Lloyd Holland of Andrews, NC; one daughter, Arlene Holland Wilkes of Andrews, NC; sisters, Maxine Holland Crawford and Margaret Ann Holland Stiles both of Andrews; sister-in-law, Myrtice Holland of Andrews; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews, NC with military honors being conducted by the North Carolina National Guard and the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812 Hayesville and VFW Post #7620 Andrews. Rev. Venning Long will officiate. Burial will be in the Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews, NC. Pallbearers will be Marcus Welch, Jamie Brown, Lloyd Holland, Brandon Holland, John Holland and David Holland.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews, NC.
