Shirley May (Day) Hores-Jackson, after an extended illness passed away onto a heavenly shore on November 21, 2016 with loving family members by her side. Born February 6, 1922 in Bogota, New Jersey, Shirley lived most of her life in New Jersey with residences in Florida and North Carolina.
A member of her high school fencing team, Shirley enjoyed conversation and visits with friends and family. Shirley was an avid about crocheting, loved to sew and make her own clothes. She served as corresponding secretary of the Shark River Hills Beach Club, Neptune and President of HOA of Citrus Woods, Florida.
While raising her family Shirley sold real estate and was employed for over twenty-years by the Federal Government.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Jackson.
She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Frances Mills and husband Richard and Barbara Lee Gamble and husband Frederick; two sons, Clifford J. and wife Christine Hores and James Martin Hores; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Shirley was loved by everyone that she knew, and all that met her felt her pleasant and positive approach to life.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
