Alice Bourne, age 88, of Hwy. 141, Murphy, NC passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Ga. Alice was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC; daughter of the late Arthur and "Mama Dot" Reece.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frances Bourne; one son, Michael Melvin Mauney and infant children, William Arthur Mauney and Nancy Beth Mauney and former husband Bruce Mauney.
Alice was an avid traveler and enjoyed cross-stitching pillows for all of her friends and family. She attended Pinelog Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in law, Claude Reece and Lucy Mauney; two sisters, Lenora and Charlie Caldwell of Brasstown and Opal and Frank Rose of Hayesville; one brother, Max and Mary Reece of Pinelog; one sister-in-law, Mary Reece of Calhoun, GA; two grandchildren, Allison Leah Mauney Brown and Kenny and Michael Wayne Mauney and Moriah; four great-grandchildren, Kameron Michael Brown, Alyssa Grace Brown, Kassidy Hope Mauney, and Michael Carder Mauney.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Kevin Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Max Reece, Kameron Brown, Mike Mauney, Charlie Caldwell, Clark Bourne and Kenny Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Mauney, David Hyatt, Doug Thrasher and Cecil Harding.
The family will receive friends at 10 am, Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
