Janice Barnhart, age 67 of Murphy, NC passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at her residence.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Porter and Lucille Roberson Oliver. Janice worked at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home as a housekeeper. She loved spending time with her kids, grand-kids and great-grand-kids. Janice enjoyed going to church and was a member of Old Fashioned Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Barnhart; one son, Richard James Barnhart; and one sister, Roma Nix.
She is survived by her children, Ronda Roberson and husband Shane of Copperhill, TN and Becky McClure and husband Robert of Murphy; three brothers, James Oliver and wife Gail of Bessemer City, NC, Lewis Oliver and wife Gail of Murphy and Jerry Oliver and wife Glenda of Murphy; three sisters, Sue Graham and Judy Lockaby both of Murphy and Connie Creason and husband Steve of Cherryville, NC; grandchildren, Julie Roberson Killian and husband Keaton, Alexandria Vazquez and husband Tony, Jeffrey Roberson and fiance Dalice and Samantha Hayes and husband Lucas, Lillie, Addie and Cole McClure; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Mason Vazquez, Landon and Grant Hayes.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Old Fashioned Baptist Church. Rev. Hoyt Brown, Rev. Jesse Sisson and Rev. Jeffrey Roberson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Mark Lockaby, Matthew Lockaby, Eddie Lockaby, Michael Lockaby, Taylor Oliver, Stephen Creason and Jamie Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Keaton Killian, Tony Vazquez and Lucas Hayes.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
