Donald Leon Meltz, age 83 of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Erlanger Medical Center.
He was born in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Sam and Anne Leon Meltz. Donald retired from the US Air Force as a recruiter. He was also a security guard at Bear Paw for 15 years. Donald was a member of the St. William Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, William O'Brien and one step-sister, Christine Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Meltz of 49 years; sons, Lawrence, Timothy and Patrick O'Brien and Daniel and Stephen Meltz; two daughters, Cheryl Ketelhut and Elisabeth Graham; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am, Friday, May 17, 2019 at the St. William Catholic Church. Father Alex Ayala will officiate. Military honors will be conducted right after the service by the American Legion Post #96 Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville, NC and the Marine Corp League Marble, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
