Anna Hughes Arrant, age 93, of Murphy passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Anna was a homemaker, avid reader, and bingo player. She was a member of the Hickory Stand Methodist Church in Clay County.
She was the daughter of the late Clingman Taylor and Hattie Bell Bishop Hughes, and the wife of the late Wilbert B. Arrant who passed away March 12, 1971. She was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Arrant; two brothers, Herman and Robert C. Hughes; and a sister, Betty Wilson.
Surviving are two sons, Wilbert Arrant, Jr and wife, Elaine, and David Arrant and wife, Elaine; a daughter, Anna Payne and husband, Larry; a sister, Stella Carter and husband, David; eight grandchildren; two special great-granddaughters, Emily and Caroline; a great-grandson, Brody; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Hickory Stand Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Tim Huff officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
