Willis P. “Jack” Nelson, 94, of Canton passed away Friday, October 22, 2021. He was born June 22, 1927 in Hayesville, NC., to the late Samuel and Estella Nelson.
Willis proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Piedmont after WWII. He retired from Republic Storage. Willis loved fishing, hunting and going to church. He served as Cub Scout Leader for 25 years and a Sunday School teacher for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora; daughter, Stella Nelson Allison, and grandson, Noah Allison.
Willis is survived by his son, Michael (Joyce) Nelson; grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Allison, Autumn (Chris) Foust, Willis (Nicky) Nelson and Alycia Gilger; great grandchildren, Savanna Massey, Abigail Foust, Zemri Foust, Jade Allison, Isabella Allison and Lucas Gilger; three great great grandchildren and companion of 21 years, Arlene Paugh; sister, Mary Jo Mosteller and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to John (Sharon) Paugh and Tonya Miller for all of their help and love given to Willis and his family. The family would like to thank the staff at Aultman Woodlawn for all of their care for Willis.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, 705 Raff Rd. SW Canton, Ohio 44710 from 5pm to 7pm.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Sellers officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
