Obituary for Frank Junior Dills

09/01/1930 - 05/19/2022

Frank Junior Dills, a Clay County native, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 91.

He was born on September 1, 1930, to the late Pauline Brown Dills, and late Frank Dills. His life and legacy is one that will be felt for generations to come, and it began in a humble country home in the Oak Forest Road community. Modeled by his father, he grew to be a resourceful, clever, hard-working young man. As a kid he worked odd jobs to support himself and his family in between school hours like milking cows, carrying wood, and selling muskrat skins for just $0.50-$1.00 a week. He would use the money earned to buy his clothes. He quit high school in the middle of 10th grade to continue working odd jobs full time. At 17-years-old, in 1948, he enlisted with the United States Air Force having his father sign for him. He served for 3 years before returning to Clay County and marrying his wife, Rebecca Roach Dills, who would be the love of his life for 65 years.

Prior to his service in the military, Junior gave his life to Jesus at the age of 16 during the Sweetwater Baptist Revival. This is the same church community that he would faithfully pour into as a deacon for over 50 years, starting in 1967. In his later years he was known for his love of growing a beautiful garden, caring for his puppies, making jelly, fishing, and, of course, supporting the Atlanta Braves. He left a legacy of hard work, passion, joy and most importantly of faith and love for Jesus Christ.

This is a legacy felt by those who preceded him in death, his parents Frank and Pauline Brown Dills, two brothers Bobby Dills and infant JB Dills, two sisters Louise Lance and infant Sally Belle Dills, brothers-in-law Thurman Roach, Robert Roach, Samuel Roach, Daniel Roach, Horace Bradshaw, Gene Lance, and sisters-in-law Lois Roach and Necy Dills.

And a legacy that will be continued by those whom he is survived by, his wife Rebecca Roach Dills, brother Bill Dills and wife Debbie, sister Frances Bradshaw, sister-in-law Clara Vee Roach, children Sheila Carter and husband Glenn, Pamela Farmer and husband Jimmy, Kelly Boone and husband Bryan, grandchildren Misty Townson and husband Charles, Nick Farmer and wife Stefani, Steven Carter and wife Jessica, Tyler Carter and wife Diana, Taylor Conley and husband Eric, Alex Boone, great-grandchildren Nate Jones, Emma Garza, Austyn Anderson, Arianna Farmer, Killian Carter, Lucy Carter, Vann Carter, Leander Carter, Marjorie Carter, Nolan Conley, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and his very special pet Sweetie.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 2 p.m. in Hayesville, NC at Townson-Rose Funeral Home. Service will be officiated by Rondall Brown, Aud Brown & Gerry Graves. Burial will be in Sweetwater Baptist Cemetery in Hayesville. Pallbearers will be Nick Farmer, Tyler Carter, Nate Jones, Charles Townson, Eric Conley, David Bradshaw, Chuck Dills, and Mike Dills. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 Sunday afternoon prior to the services at Townson-Rose Chapel Hayesville.
