Thomas "Tommy" Neal Hiers, age 76 of Murphy, NC passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022.
He was born in Duval County, Florida to the late Fletcher and Delores Zittraver Hiers. Tommy was a US Marine veteran; he served during the Vietnam War. He was owner/operator of Hiers Welding Company. Tommy welded water towers. He also worked on the Apollo Mission for NASA and also for LockHeed Martin. Tommy enjoyed riding motorcycles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Hiers.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Roberts Hiers; mother of their children, Linda Higbe of Somerset, KY; two sons, Troy Hiers and fiance Christena Livingston of Murphy, NC and Buzz Allen Hiers and Valerie Smith of Mims, FL; one daughter, Trina Lynn Henson and husband Ken Henson of Titusville, FL; one brother, Henry Hiers of Pickens, SC; three grandchildren, Tommy Ryan Hiers, Angela Marie Hiers and Billy Powell and two great grandchildren, Nicholas Hiers and Alexander Lloyd Hiers.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Jerry Morrow will officiate. Music will be provided by Marion Morgan. Burial will be in the Bellview Community Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by American Legion Post #96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville, and the Marine Corp League, Marble.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 2 pm, Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
