10/02/1945 - 06/26/2026
Pearlie Rance Fleming, Jr., age 80 of Murphy, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026 after an extended illness with his family by his side.
Mr. Fleming was born on October 2, 1945, in Murphy to the late Pearlie Fleming and Carmen Beavers Fleming. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1963. He was a native and lifelong resident of Murphy. He was a member and deacon of New Martins Creek Baptist Church, member of Dooley Lodge 367 F + AM where he was a former worship master. He was also a member of Martins Creek Fire Department.
In his youth, he was athletic and played softball and baseball. Jr. worked in oil and propane business before his retirement. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything - a trait he passed onto his grandsons who were his pride and joy. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, especially his Bible. He loved the outdoors; whether he was working in his yard, his garden, or was hunting and fishing. One of his favorite things to do was go to the mountains with his son and grandsons. As soon as his grandsons could walk, he was teaching them how to play ball. He had the pleasure of seeing both grandsons achieve their dreams; one playing baseball at the collegiate level and the other becoming a United States Army paratrooper who is currently stationed in Germany.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother-in-law, Rose Lee and Ronald Woods; his brother, James Fleming; his niece, Rose Mary Garner; his nephews, Tommy Smith, Ronnie Woods and Todd Fleming.
Surviving Mr. Fleming is his wife of 50 years, Nina Rogers Fleming; his son, Adam Fleming (Dana); his grandsons, Hunter and Holten Fleming; his sisters, Joann Smith (Keith) and Buffy Bruner; a brother, Donnie Fleming; and several nieces, nephews and many other relatives survive.
