Obituary for Darlene Fricks Queen

Darlene Queen, age 70 of Andrews, NC passed away Saturday, October 31, 2026.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late John and Fannie Kate Graves Fricks. Darlene was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and watching TV. Darlene loved spending time with her grandkids. She was a member of Murphy Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Graves; and three sisters, Linda Jo Hartness, Charlene Raymond and Pamela Hartness.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Queen; adopted parents, Charles Woltemath (Mary Lee); two sons, Lee Sanders (Shanda) of Andrews and Justin Sutton of Murphy; two daughters, Michelle Sanders of Andrews and Tabitha Sutton of Georgia; three brothers, Johnny Hartness and Willard Hartness of Murphy, and Claude Hartness of Georgia; one sister, Paula Hartness of Murphy; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, November 7, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Minister Roy Goodlet will officiate. Burial will be in the Grape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jordan Dockery, Brian Culver, Austin Murrin, Jake Flowers, Timmy Queen, David Bartlet, Sr., Jason Queen and Greg Totherow.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 pm, Saturday, November 7, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
