With heavy hearts we share that our dad, Terrance Joseph Bloom (Terry), passed away on October 26th, 2026 in Chattanooga Tennessee at age 90. He was with family and his passing was quick.
Terry has always loved Murphy, North Carolina and says goodbye to many local friends after living in the community for over 20 years. He led a long and industrious life as a self-taught carpenter, architect, real estate agent, home builder, body builder, mechanic, auto body technician, and his full-time job was at TECO where he worked from his early twenties until retirement, advancing from a laborer to an executive. These endeavors followed his time in the Navy as a Seaman aboard the USS Vesole, where he toured the Mediterranean. Above all else he was a family man.
He is survived by his son, Steven Douglas Bloom and daughter-in -law Lisa Bloom, daughter Catherine Bloom Holt and son-in-law Chad Holt, and two grandsons Raven Jovan Bloom Holt (age 24) and Ciannan Rayne Bloom Holt (age 16). Terry was loved by many and painfully missed. It feels to us like a king has fallen.
We will have a family only ceremony on May 28th, 2027 at 2:00 pm at the Fort Snelling military cemetery in Hennepin, Minneapolis. He will be buried with his wife, Gloria Dawn Bloom (deceased June 2, 2024), in the same plot. Terry’s father, Clarence Joseph Bloom is buried here, and it is in Hennepin Minneapolis where Terry was born making this a symbolic place of rest. We send both our parents off in the most dignified manner possible to restore the mountain of a man he was. Dad’s military burial flag will be displayed by his own father’s military burial flag in his Murphy home, in the home he built that overlooks the Great Smoky Mountains. We love you mom and dad.
We ask in lieu of flowers or gifts that you send donations to any of the following, the two terrible diseases that took both our parents in hopes it will ease the suffering of those to come
