Obituary for Ruth Ann Beasley

Ruth Ann Beasley, 81, of Hayesville, made her final journey to her heavenly home on Dec. 26, 2023.

Surrounded by her family, Ruth died peacefully at Union General Hospital after an extended illness.

Ruth was a seamstress who worked at Orbit and Carolina Dress, among others. She also worked at Brothers Restaurant in Young Harris, Ga.

Ruth was often described as a hard worker and a strong woman. She was strong in her faith, in her family ties, and in life.

While she was “feisty,” and was quick to tell it like it was, Ruth was a compassionate woman who would go out of her way to help anyone she knew of in need.

Her faith guided her throughout her life and recently she was baptized in Tusquittee Creek by Pastor Steve Cothren of Oakview Baptist Church of which she attended.

A native of Clay County, Ruth was born May 1, 1942 in the Shooting Creek community. She married Carol Beasley on Dec. 16, 1960 in Wahalla, S.C.

She was passionate about family. Ruth made it a point to attend ballgames and special events in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Ruth is survived by a large family including her three sons and a daughter: Terry Stroud and wife, Nancy; Tony Beasley and wife, Becky; Avery Beasley; and Carolyn Moss and husband, Scotty.

Her grandchildren are Sean, Beth and Emily Stroud; Nicholas Beasley; Gracie Taylor and husband, Dalton; Kayla Marr and husband, Keith; Teria Beasley and Brady; Harley Beasley and wife, Elizabeth; along with 13 great-grandchildren.

Surviving siblings are Raymond, Bill and David Stroud, Wanda Baer, Willa Jean Lyvers and Kathleen Lands.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lucille Davenport Stroud and siblings Judy Head, Carl Stroud, Gin Kirby, twin Ray Stroud, Robert Stroud.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Hayesville, Saturday, Dec. 30 starting with visitation at 1 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. and burial will follow at Hillcrest Assembly of God.
