Obituary for Charlene Davidson Brackett

Charlene Davidson Brackett, 85, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Robert Gay and Joyce Martin Davidson.

Charlene was born and raised in Murphy. After high school, she attended Brevard College and then returned to Murphy. After falling in love with and marrying Bill Brackett, they remained in Murphy to work and raise their two children, Scott and Pam. Upon retirement, Charlene and Bill retired to Franklin, NC. Charlene loved crafting all kinds of kinds, especially crocheting, tatting and making Christmas ornaments. She started and continued the family tradition of giving handmade ornaments to each family member every year. She loved Christmas and her love is visible on all the family Christmas trees. Charlene loved gardening and her favorite flowers were Orchids. She enjoyed collecting teapots and items with cardinals on them. You could usually find Bill and Charlene taking long drives or hikes in the mountains whenever possible. Her favorite thing of all was to spend time with family and was known for her amazing, big hugs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Brackett, Jr., whom she was married to for 60 years.

Surviving Charlene is a son, Scott William Brackett (Lisa); a daughter, Pamela Brackett Whitlock (Frank); grandchildren, Brittany Jacob (Josh), Dwight Whitlock (Laura), Davis Whitlock (Shayla), Leland Whitlock, William Brackett, and Benjamin Brackett; and a great grandchild, Norah Jacob.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, December 28, 2025 in the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Margaret Freeman officiating. Burial will be held in Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and Josh Jacob.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm - 2 pm at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home prior to the service hour.
