Obituary for Buel Edward Carringer

03/12/1938 - 02/23/2026

Buel Edward Carringer, age 87, was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to talk and make jokes and never met a stranger. On this day, February 23, 2026, he has gone on to accept the reward God promised Him on the day he was saved - Father’s Day 1997 - and to have a good, long talk with Jesus.

Buel was born on March 12, 1938, the only son of the late Maude Carringer Moore, who died in 1990. He was preceded in death by a beautiful daughter, Brenda Suzanne Carringer Campbell, who died in an automobile accident in September 1999; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Diane Campbell, who died at birth; a grandson, Brandon Campbell, killed in a car accident in December 2006; and a sister, Glenda Sue Brooks, who died in December 2001.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Joan; one daughter, Debby Carringer Tant of Marble, NC; one son, Billy Carringer (Pam) of Andrews, NC; three grandsons, Ricky Reece (Misty) of Marble, NC; Daniel Smith (Kammi) of Robbinsville, NC; and Dakotah Carringer of Andrews; one granddaughter, Lacyn Miller of Marble, NC; three great grandsons, Austin Reece (Cheyenne) of Hayesville, NC, Kolbie Smith and Bradyn Smith; one great granddaughter, Rynleigh Smith of Robbinsville, NC; one sister, Kay Bryson of Murphy, NC; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Buel was an active member of Tomotla Baptist Church. He loved going to church and rarely missed a service. Buel was a retired tractor operator. He was also a United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam.

Buel was always doing something to help someone else. He was a man people knew that they could count on in just about any situation.
