Obituary for Annie Evelyn Arp

Annie Evelyn Witherow Arp, age 95, of Murphy, NC went home to be with her Lord on October 12, 2015.

Annie was born March 18, 1920 at home in Wolf Creek to the late Ben and Ruth Ellis. Losing her parents at an early age, she was raised by her grandmother, Mattie Witherow. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, later attending Oak Grove Baptist Church of Murphy. Annie worked very hard to raise four children by herself. After retirement from MGM Brakes, her hobbies was working puzzles, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and feeding the birds. She loved flowers of all kinds. Annie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Arp and most beloved son, Billy Arp "K.O." Arp.

She is survived by a brother, Earl Witherow and the late wife Arlene of Hiram, Georgia; one son, Jackie Arp and wife Susie; two daughters, Sue Newton and husband Richard and Deanie Stiles and husband J.L. Stiles all of Murphy; five wonderful grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. Not to be forgotten, Ann Gilmore, who was like a daughter to her.

Special recognition to Shirley Hinton who help care for her, and her beloved doctor, Dr. David Mock.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Harold Stiles, Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. William-Wayne Adams will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Scott Stiles, Reggie Pendley, Rondal Phillips, Phil Bowman, Austin Phillips, Jonathan Bowman, Cody McBride and Billy Ray Gaddis. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bandy, Richard Helton, Franklin Barnett, Marvin Cook, Dakota McBride and Hunter McBride.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
