Obituary for Robert Marion Lunsford

Robert Marion Lunsford, age 93 of the Nantahala community passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021.

He was born in Macon County to the late Maude Lunsford Davis and stepdad, Sandy Davis. Robert started his working career at the age of 14 in Kyle, NC. He was a US Army veteran; he served in the Korean War. Robert worked several years in Marietta, GA at Lockheed Martin. He was the co-owner and c0-operator of Lunsford and Davis Clearing Contracts. Robert enjoyed CB Radios; on the CB handle he was known as the "Brush Cutter". He loved blue grass music, fishing, gardening and collecting hats. Robert and his wife, Ollie, loved traveling in their camper; they were avid campers. He enjoyed sitting under his "air conditioned" shade tree in his front yard with his family. Robert was a member of the Aquone Baptist Church but been attending White Oak Flats Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Jacobs Lunsford in 2007; and one brother, Ray Davis.

He is survived by one daughter, Teresa Lunsford Solesbee (Gary) of the Nantahala community; one sister, Shelby Morgan of Andrews, NC; two grandchildren, Candice Mason Mintz (Justin) and Colen Robert Solesbee of the Nantahala community; and four great grandchildren, Isabella, Jackson, Ridge, and Cadance Mintz all of the Nantahala community.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Rev. S. J. Water will officiate. Dean Bateman will conduct the family prayer. Burial will be in Aquone Cemetery in the Nantahala community. Pallbearers will be Colen Solesbee, Justin Mintz, Justin Morgan, Kenny Cope, Dalton Cope, Doug Bryant and Josh Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Mintz, Ridge Mintz and Nelson Younce.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
