William “Skip” A. J. Weidner, Jr, of Andrews, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Skip was a happy, loving and caring man. He always had the biggest smile on his face and a laugh that was contagious. Skip loved God, family, community and country. He passed away peacefully in his home in Andrews, NC in the arms of his wife, Jeanette M. Pieper Weidner (Jeannie).
We have been in love for over 50 years. Skip was born in Waukegan, IL to the late Mary Patricia Markese Weidner and William A.J. Weidner, Sr.
Skip is survived by his brothers, Anthony Weidner (Donna) and Erik Weidner (Stacy); his goddaughters, Jennifer Lovelace (Tylor) and Amanda Pieper; his daughter in heart, Tamara Anderson Boozer (Tim); and his best friend and brother-in-law, Paul Pieper (Margaret). He was loved by Jeannie’s family as well including his mother-in-law, Esther Lee; Dennis Pieper (Val), Lori Crowell and James Pieper (April); many nieces and nephews that he has been so very proud of. Skip also is survived by his aunts, which he adored, Sue Weidner (Kenny), Darlene Rogers (Roy) and Marilynn (bob) Tague, Betty (Johnny) Markese. Many great loved ones are waiting in Heaven to welcome Skip home to his Lord’s house.
Skip was the owner of Party Time in Andrews, NC for 25 years, a small business that gave us the greatest gift of love. Each employee and employee’s children were like our own kids. The customers easily became good friends, which is a true gift from God.
Skip was an Eagle Scout, in the order of the arrow vigil. Also, God and Country.
Indian dancing as a child with his father out west was a cherished memory.
Skip retired from Tri County Community College in Peachtree, NC and TCCC of Robbinsville, NC as a welding instructor for 11 years. He worked as a certified welding inspector (CWI) for Chicago Bridge and Iron. Skip retired from Outboard Marine Corp. in Andrews as a manufacturing engineer and from Waukegan, IL as a machinist for 27 years total. He also worked at Burger Chef where he met his wife, Jeannie.
Skip loved giving back to his community. He volunteered for Valley Town Fire Department as a certified federal firefighter, assistant chief, treasurer and interior attack leader. Skip and his father designed and made many Methodist Cross’s to adorn the outside of the churches in the Waukegan, IL area. Skip was part of restoring the Cherokee County Courthouse’s copper lantern which sat atop of the cupola, it was in danger of collapsing in on itself. He also designed the rotisserie that held the dome safe so others could weld and repair it. Skip was also a part of repairing the clock. The courthouse was almost 100 years old. Skip teaching was able to take his knowledge from all previous skills and bring it to a new generation. Skip was excited to connected, encouraged, and back his students to become productive adults.
And with all of this, we will celebrate his beautiful life of 69 years.
