Frances W. Estes, 89, of Murphy passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2025 in
Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was the daughter of the late Vallin Dayton Estes and Marjorie Williams Estes of Raleigh, North Carolina. Frances was born in Franklinton, North Carolina and raised in nearby Raleigh. She was a graduate of Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. Frances was a Navy Seabee wife for 26 years, raising six children and living in many places before finally settling in Murphy, NC. She worked as a school cafeteria manager (Oxnard School District), CBC Federal Credit Union (Oxnard, California), California Federal Bank (Oxnard, California) and
Community Memorial Hospital (Ventura, California).
Frances was preceded in death by her sons Mark G. Eubanks and James V. Eubanks;
brother Vallin Dayton Estes Jr; sister Marjorie Macon Estes Lilley; and grandson Brian Eubanks.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Vicky Eubanks Isner (Cliff dec) and Lynda Eubanks Anderson (John); her sons, Michael Eubanks (Deirdre) and Robert Eubanks (Nancy); sister, Sandra Estes Moravec (George); sister-in-law, Elizabeth Estes (Dayton dec); grandchildren Francine and Rick, Timothy, Kevin, Kristianna, Trent and Mason, Magan, Brandon and Jason, Rob and Andrew, Chad, Phillip and Deseray, and her many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Fran was an amazing woman who marched through life to the beat of her own drum. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her large family and many friends.
