Obituary for June K Berry

06/21/1925 - 08/10/2025

June K. Berry, age 100 of Andrews, passed away on August 10, 2025. She passed away peacefully with her daughter, Karen and her son-in-law at her side. June was devoted to her faith, her family and her friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in St. Cloud, MN where she lived for many years before moving to Andrews, NC.

June was born on June 21, 1925 in Poole, Dorset England, and the middle child of Elsie (Way) Cross and Reginald Cross.

She married Kenneth Berry on March 27, 1948. They had two children in England before emigrating to Canada in 1957. Their third child was born in Canada in 1960. In 1962, the family moved to Beloit, WI in the United States. In 2000, June and Ken moved to St. Cloud, MN to be closer to their youngest daughter and in 2021, June moved to the mountains of North Carolina where she lived with her oldest daughter and son-in-law.

In England, June was in the Land Army (where women worked the food producing farms during the war) from 1942 until the end of WWII. She later sold Avon when her children were young. Her big accomplishment, however, was receiving her GED at 54 so that she could get her real estate license and sell real estate. She passed her real estate board with no formal schooling and was a realtor for over 20 years.

June was a creative person. For many years she did intricate hand knitting. Later, she decided to try her hand at a knitting machine. She became very good at modifying patterns creating beautiful designs. The family was never short on really nice sweaters. People were truly amazed at her work. She was also an avid reader and really enjoyed historical romances. She would read daily preferably on the front porch with the mountains as a backdrop.

June is survived by her eldest son, John (Gabrielle) Berry of Rifton, New York; daughter, Karen (Dan) Shaffer of Andrews, North Carolina; daughter Alison (Ken) Auer of Big Lake, Minnesota; grandchildren, Max (Elisha) Berry, Ian (Alexis) Berry, Miles Berry, Rachel (Eric) Leonard, Dylan (Rachel) Mayasich; and 9 great great grandchildren with one on the way.

In lieu of flowers, please make your dontations to Tunnels to Towers or Samaritan's Purse.

June's family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice out of Sylva, NC for their kind, loving and generous care and to Townson-Rose Funeral Home for making this transistion so much easier.
