Obituary for Carl William "Bill" Yaus

10/12/1935 - 04/05/2026

Carl William "Bill" Yaus, age 90 of Hayesville, NC passed away April 5, 2026.

Bill was born on October 12, 1935 in the town of Bethesda, Ohio. He was one of 6 children born to the late Cecil and Ethel Yaus. October 12th has been a very special date to so many, when our precious father was born. Oh, how our grandmother was pleased seeing her son run through the house in his little bibbed overalls. We wonder what Dad thought in the 40's when the world's greatest generation defeated tyranny and gave the world a victory day.

Then as the 50's approached, he met a beautiful black hair girl that was a Hayesville Yellowjacket. They actually met at a pretzel factory called Halters pretzels. This is where they really fell in love, Canton, Ohio. She was the sweet, pretty intelligent and sporty beautiful young woman and were married for 68 years until the Lord called Benny Louise Mull Yaus home. They dated for one year and then got married in 1954 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. That is where they drove back to Canton, Ohio and started to build their family on love and our sweet Savior Jesus Christ.

They had two beautiful children, the first was Dennis Allen Yaus, born August 8, 1956, then seven years later, here came Connie Lynn Yaus, born February 21, 1963. After a few years in Canton, they moved to Charlotte, NC. That is where Dad got a job as a quality controller for Westinghouse Steam plant. He worked there for 25 years and retired.

My Dad and mom were both avid golfers. They loved the game as they did with bowing too. We also had the love for horses and that is where we all started to learn how to ride. Dad built the barn out behind the house. It was pretty cool to have horses right there at your house. Our Dad was one of a kind. His love and sense of humor was untouchable. He will be truly missed, and we know as he ran to and from the nearby fields, the Lord had already declared, he is mine, he is a chosen one and I will never let him go. My Dad loved the Lord with all his mind, body and soul.

Our dad loved the United States of America and of course he loved our current President, Donald J. Trump. He is a true Red, White and Blue American.

We know that he is now with our precious Savior Jesus Christ. He chose to bring our Dad home on this wonderful Easter Sunday. The day of recognition of the risen King. How glorious.

He is survived by a son, Dennis Yaus (Rhonda), daugthter, Connie Yaus Trent (Matt)); one sister, Sharon Yaus; three grandchildren, Chad Tyler Kennington (Anna), Haley Nicole Kennington Christenbury (Will), and Taylor Lynn Solada; six great granchildren, Abbey Christenbury, Luke Christenbury, Tyler Kennington, Elijah Moore, Nora Kennington, and Caleb Solada.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Hayesville Baptist Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Matheson officiating. Music will be provided by Mike Garrett, Debra Ledford and Billy Garret.

Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
