Obituary for Daniel "Spiderman" Russell

Daniel "Spiderman" Russell, age 24, of Murphy, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Daniel lived in Cherokee County his entire life and was a graduate of Murphy High School Class of 2020. He was of the Baptist faith.

Daniel was one of God's special creations born with a gentle soul and loving heart. He enjoyed giving hugs and high fives living a simple child-like life. Daniel was an avid fan of Spiderman, Lightning McQueen, Mater and the Wiggles. He not only watched, he sang along with the movies and loved reacting scenes with his "bestest big brother", Caleb Hendershot.

He loved to visit any fire department, Murphy Pet Store, the Humane Society and playing at Downtown Pizza. Feeding the ducks at the park was a favorite hobby for Daniel as well as looking through any toy departments.

Daniel had a desire to learn about science, weather, dinosaurs and how things interacted. He loved his books. Another favorite pastime was playing Mario Cart, CARS, Matea's Tall Tales on his Wii and eating chicken nuggets from any restaurant.

Daniel is preceded in death by his Nannie, Irene Williamson.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Hendershot; his brothers, Steven Foster of Hayesville, Caleb Hendershot (Cassidy) of Murphy; his niece whom he adored, Addilyn Hendershot; his special aunt, Revonda Moss (BJ) of Hayesville; several great aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special friends, Easton and Rylee Robertson of Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Covenant Baptist Church (410 Hwy 294, Murphy) with Pastor Tommy Hayes officiating. Inurnment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Murphy.
