Jerry Lynn Dickey, age 80 of Murphy, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Jerry was born in Cherokee County to the late Edward Brittian and Helen Martha Millsap Dickey. He had worked in residential construction and had been the principal for Unaka School where he also loved teaching, especially teaching lessons of life. Jerry enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and Law & Order. He was a member of Trout Cove Baptist Church. His favorite book of the Bible for knowledge was Proverbs. Jerry loved his children and his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Christopher Dickey (Pam) and Mark Dickey; his daughters, Toni Ledford (Jeff) and Selina Dickey; his brother, Frank Dickey (Cynthia); his grandchildren, Rachel, Stephen (Kendra), Ceairah, Dalton (Ashley), Rae, Deanna, Heaven, Skylar, Jerry, Breanna, Jeremiah and Bella; and his great grandchildren, Chloe, LJ, Jax, Q, Kiley, Adeline, Hazel, Londyn, Addy, Karson and Wylie.

A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The visitation will be followed by eulogies given by Franklin and Zeland McKinney.
