Obituary for James B. Allison

Mr. James B. "Red" Allison, age 90, of Murphy, passed away October 26, 2023.

A native of Cherokee County, James was the son of the late Benjamin Richard Allison and Marie Gladson Allison. James served in the US Army in the 1950's and he was a member of the American Legion. He also loved to read and study his Bible and was a member of Sunny Point Baptist church where he taught an adult Sunday School class. James enjoyed spending time outdoors as an avid gardener, camper, hunter, and fisherman, and was known to his friends as "Red." He retired from Emerson Electric.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, Allison; son, Mark Allison; granddaughter, Alicia Simonds; and son-in-law, Jack Simonds, Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Simonds of Murphy; brothers, Kenneth Allison, Tom Allison; sisters, Betty Whitener, Lois Menasian, Helen Bozette, Sue Ledford; and grandson, Justin Simonds (Lauren West).

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM. Rev. Keith Allison, Rev. Allen Harris, Rev. Kenny Corn, and Rev. Tony Allison will officiate. Interment will follow at Hopewell Church Cemetery with military rites being conducted by American Legion Post #96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville and the Marine Corp League, Marble.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Gideon's Bible Ministry at www.gideons.org in the name of James B. Allison.
