Obituary for Mary Maxine Evans

Mary Maxine Cooper Evans, age 87 of Hayesville, NC passed away March 12, 2022 at the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA.

She was the daughter of the late Larry Milton and Mary Alice Dillon Cooper. She worked in the school cafeteria for several years. Maxine enjoyed playing bingo, reading, watching the news, and cooking. She loved her family and grandchildren and especially enjoyed cooking for them. She lived in Baltimore, Maryland for 52 years until she moved to Clay County in 1999 with her husband Marvin.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Lewis and husband Robert, Helen Fortner and husband Jim, Shirley Romans and Patricia Ann Boothe and husband Duey and a sister-in-law Diane Cooper.

She is survived by her husband Marvin James Evans of 54 years; one daughter, Debra Carol Regulski and husband, Tom of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Larry Cooper, Jr. of Delmar, Delaware; one sister Gail Wooten and husband Tommy of Delmar, Delaware; one brother-in-law Clarence Romans; two grandchildren, Nichole Burgess and Michael Thomas Regulski; four great grandchildren, Alexis, Peyton, Ciara and Michael A. Regulski and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Little Brasstown Baptist Church in Brasstown, NC. Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Peachtree. Pallbearers will be Bob Byers, Oliver Minor, Kenny Hall, Gary Wilson, Eddie Joe Kephart, and Tim White. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay, Charles, Paul, Jake, and Dale Evans, Rodney Wood, Mitchell Shields and Isaac White.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Little Brasstown Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church cemetery fund.
