Obituary for Mary J. Whipple

Mary J. Whipple, age 89 of Murphy, NC passed away Thursday, November 5, 2025.

She was born in Bay Shore, New York to the late Harold and Mary Reardon Whipple. Mary graduated from New York University College of Nursing. She started her nursing career working in pediatrics then later retired from Department of Veterans Affairs in St. Petersburg, FL. Mary loved to read and travel. She visited every national park and national monuments out west. She was immensely proud of her Irish decent. Mary was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Whipple.

Mary is survived by her special friends, Susany Young and Vick and Paul Fredlund.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at the St. Williams Catholic Church.

Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
