Wilma G. Chapman, age 90 of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC. Wilma was the daughter of the late Wilburn and Elsie Hamby LeFevers. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, blue grass and county music. Wilma also enjoyed working in her flowers and frogs. She loved to sit on her front porch. Wilma was a member of Bear Paw Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brevard Chapman; son-in-law, Sam Ward; two brothers, Dewey and Lynn LeFevers; and two sisters, Linda and Eveyln.
She is survived by her son, Steve Johnson (Rose); one daughter, Mary Ward; one brother, Lawson LeFevers; three grandchildren, Gordon Johnson, Phillip and James Anderson; four great grandchildren, Michael and Everly Anderson, Exavier Johnson and Christian Abernathy; and two great grandchildren, Collin and Ayiana Abernathy.
A celebration of life service will be announced.
