Bernice Burrell, 73, of Hayesville passed away Monday, March 27, 2023. She was the daughter of the late James Willard and Stella Monkus Whitaker. Bernice had worked as a supervisor in the textile industry. She was an independent Baptist and a Faithful member of Mission Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to the parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Whitaker; a sister, Betty Parker and a granddaughter, Racheal Burrell.
Surviving is her husband, Ronnie Burrell; son, Thomas Michael Bright and wife, Stephanie; daughters, Tammy Gregg and husband, Brian, and Michelle Burrell; sister, Christine Roach and husband, Charlie; grandchildren, Jessica Ellis and husband, Nathan, Zachary Gregg and wife, Rebekah, Adam Watkins and wife, Emily, Autumn Bright, and Madison Bright; great grandchildren, Brian, Samantha, Savanna, Samuel, and Gabriel; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Mission Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Stuart officiating. Interment will be in Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Whitaker, Jeff Roach, Darrell Davis, Johnny Burrell, Kimmy Chastain, and Tim Chastain. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Doughtrey, Nathan Ellis, and Gabriel Cavender.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Mission Hill Baptist Church prior to the services.
