Obituary for Lowell Ledford

Lowell Ledford, age 69, of Hayesville, NC passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 in Mission St. Joseph's Hospital in Buncombe County, NC.

Lowell was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late, Willard Ralph Ledford and Mattie Lee Kitchens Ledford, but lived all his life in Clay County, NC. He had many traits, which included a gift of mechanical talent that was put to good use both on the job and at home. He was well-organized and loved fixing and repairing things, whether it was a lawnmower, weed eater, or his favorite S-10 Chevrolet truck.

Lowell was a kind and loving man with a beautiful smile. He was a devoted husband and father. But most of all he loved Jesus. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and attending church at the Shooting Creek Church of God.

Lowell was a peacemaker. He was always there when you needed him and was more than willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that was in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Aaron Alonzo Ledford, James Anthony (Tony) Ledford and Eugene Ledford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Helen Dailey Ledford; one son, Jeffrey Lowell Ledford and his wife Christy of Marble, NC; two daughters, Diana Renae Dayton and her husband, Myron of Hiawassee, GA and Jill Helene Free and her husband, Brian of Young Harris, GA; two brothers, Monroe Ledford of Hiawassee, GA and Cranval Ledford of Marion, NC; four sisters, Mary Jo Martin of Hayesville, NC, Evelyn Crews of Carrollton, GA, Gwen Penland of Blairsville, GA and Dewayne Evans of Hayesville, NC; two grandchildren, Amity Danielle Ledford and Adam Eli Dayton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Hayesville, NC. Rev. Harold Ledford and Rev. Rob Sizemore will officiate. Music will be provided by Rev. Chris Rumfelt. Burial will be in the Bethel Community Cemetery in the Shooting Creek community. Nephews will serve as pallbearers: Stuart Crews, Barron Martin, Derrick Ledford, Ronnie Ledford, Steven Evans, Eric Dailey, Brian Anderson and Davis Carter.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home in Hayesville, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Fund, 769 Muskrat Creek Road, Hayesville, NC 28904.
