Obituary for Ray Hopkins Barclay

Ray Hopkins Barclay Sr. “Hop” of Spring Hill, Florida passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016.

Hop was the son of the late Charles and Mary Cowart Barclay. He was born in Warren, Texas and moved to Florida. Hop served in the United States Air Force. He was an electronic technician for the Federal Aviation Administration. Hop was a member of Land O’ Lakes Church of God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Hop also enjoyed gardening and going to the flea market every Tuesday.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melanie Hudson and grand-daughter, Amber.

Hop is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Martha; two sons, Ray Hopkins Barclay, Jr. and wife Joyce, Charles Barclay and wife Mary; daughter, Mary Johnson and husband Alan; 9 grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and foster child, Cathy Morris.

A Memorial service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Land O’ Lakes Church of God. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service.

Graveside Services will be in Aquone Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday, July 19,2016 at 2PM. Rev. David Postell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Shawn Bryant, Jason Clark, Jake Rowland, Kenny Cope, Doug Bryant and Chris Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Rowland, Mike Waters and Tommy Baldwin.

Military honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post # 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96, D.A.V. Chapter #73, American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post # 6812 of Hayesville.
