Andrew Gene Moore, 85, of Hayesville, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born August 5, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Clay County. He was the son of the late Andrew and Pauline Shook Moore.
After working for a short time in Winston Salem, N.C., as an insurance agent, he became a partner in Clay Insurance Agency, which later became Moore Insurance. There his service to the community became widely known and appreciated.
Gene was married to Minnette Moffitt and was a faithful husband for more than 61 years. He was a member of the Hayesville Church of God, Clay County Lion’s Club and the Clay County Grange.
He enjoyed gardening and watching Yellow Jacket ballgames. He loved people and was known for his faithfulness to God.
The family will receive friends from 3pm-4pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Hayesville.
A graveside service will be held at 4pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at First United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hayesville. Rev. Mitchell Totherow will officiate.
