Obituary for Selma Annetta Jackson

Selma Annetta Allen Jackson, age 78 of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Selma was born in Cherokee County to the late Luther Wild and Edith Fair Allen. She retired from Four Square Community Action in Andrews, NC with over 20 years of service as an outreach worker. Selma loved working with the youth at church, being a foster parent, very church oriented and involved with the community. She was a social butterfly and loved her family and friends. Selma also loved to go thrifting, dancing and laughing. She was a prayer warrior and loved reading her bible. Selma was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jewell "J.D" Jackson; her step mother, Anna Mae Allen; her brothers, Edward Allen, Walter Allen, Chester Allen, Frank Allen and Steve Owens; and her sisters, Mary Evelyn Colbert, Margaret Moore, Betty Ruth McCombs and Sandra Kaye Nelson.

She is survived by her sons, Joel Jackson (Shannon) and DeAndre Jackson; her daughters, Vanessa Jackson Daniels (Gerald) and Veleda Jackson (Mark); her brothers, Charles Allen (Barbara), Johnny Allen (Shirley), Oscar Allen (Donna), Preston Allen (Missy), Martin Allen (Anna) and Ray Owens (Judy); her sisters, Judy Colbert, Ruby Allen, Beverly Yvonne Allen, Zulia Mae Allen, Mattie Ann Brown (Ervin), Faira Lee Williams (Chester) and Mary Elizabeth Johnson; her grandchildren, Jarai Jackson, Jayden Cruz, Jovan Cruz and Trinity Jackson; and a great grandchild, Jai Duncan Jackson Daniels.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Louis Grant and Rev. John Paul Webb will officiate. Music will be conducted by Farrah Hall Eller. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jack Jackson, Darrell Sudderth, Alex Blount, Victor Hall, Craig Daniel and Scott Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Ervin Brown and Kagney Colbert-Carr.

The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
